Try Croquet

Excellent, we've caught your interest! Many thanks for your enquiry about Bristol Croquet Club.

If you've never played croquet before, you'll need to complete our Association Croquet Beginners' Course before becoming a member. The only condition is that you must be at least 10 years old.

If it's been a long time since you played, or maybe you have played Garden Croquet, we'd advise you to join the beginners' course - there's a lot to learn or recall! If you're beyond that, please just get in touch.

Your taster session is free of charge and obligation, and will introduce you to the game and give you an idea of what will be covered during the Beginners' Course. If you'd like to go on to learn more, you will be invited to sign-up and pay for the course.

The Beginners' Course is friendly and relaxed, and provides an opportunity to meet others who are intrigued by this wonderful game.

The 5-session course normally runs during April and May each year following the free taster session and provides an introduction to the game and club in small, friendly and supportive groups. All are run by experienced coaches (who are authorised or qualified by croquet's national governing body).

For the duration of the course, you will be a temporary member of the club, which entitles you to use a club mallet and the clubhouse facilities, including toilets and drink-making facilities. On your request, your coach will book a court (lawn) between your sessions so that you can practice what you learn.

If you are interested in giving it a try, just contact our Secretary as soon as you like.

For more information, please email Chris Frew, who will be happy to help.
