Information for Visitors

Visiting us with Time to Spare?

The club is really well situated with easy access to a range of attractions for players with time to spare and their non-playing companions who would like to explore.

There is no bar at the club because the head lease forbids it (it's Quaker land), but you are free to bring your own alcoholic drinks and enjoy them on the premises. There's a drinks fridge if you need it.

Find Us on a map to get your bearings or if you're looking for accommodation you should Google B&B near Stoke Bishop, look on Trip Advisor, Booking.com, Trivago, etc. Meanwhile, here are a few ideas.

The club is within 5-minutes' walk of a small parade of mainly food shops (no charity shops, unfortunately): a couple of small supermarkets, a cafe/restaurant, take-aways (Domino's Pizza and a great Fish & Chip shop 0117 968 2465), and a pub. The small supermarkets open early and sell sandwiches should you require a simple lunch.

There is a good fish and chip shop on Druids Hill walkable from the club 0117 329 0366 and an excellent one a short drive away in Church Road, Westbury-on-Trym 0117 950 8100, though both are closed on Sundays.

The nearby urban villages of Westbury-on-Trym and Henleaze beyond have shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, as well as frequent bus services to and from Bristol.

A 30-minute walk takes you to the glorious Downs with amazing views along the Avon including the Suspension Bridge. There's a delightful café near the water tower and usually an ice-cream van by the view point. If you take the car, there is free parking for 5 hours all around the downs.

For a trip into Bristol, its Harbourside, museums, galleries and shops, take the No. 4 bus, which runs frequently enough across the top end of our road. Take it in the opposite direction (downhill) and you'll end up (eventually!) in the out-of-town shopping centre and cinema complex at Cribbs Causeway.

Bristol now has a Clean Air Zone where older vehicles attract an expensive tax.

Enjoy your visit.
